The England manager has chosen to retain the identical England squad that triumphed against their previous opponents and produced a stellar performance in Belgrade during the previous international break, finding no place for the Real Madrid star and the Manchester City attacker in his group for the upcoming friendly against the Welsh side and the World Cup qualifier in the Baltic nation.

Despite Phil Foden making a strong case for a return to the squad after regaining his top condition at Manchester City, and Jude Bellingham having returned for Real Madrid following shoulder surgery, the head coach has opted not to selecting two of the country's biggest offensive stars. Bellingham has been in the starting lineup just a single time for his team since his comeback.

The England boss has made room for Bukayo Saka, who is back to fitness and has been restored in place of his injured club colleague Noni Madueke. The experienced attacker has not been handed a return to the squad.

Tuchel highlighted the energy in the previous selection and appears determined to keeping the same atmosphere. The Newcastle defender, who featured at the defensive flank in the 5-0 win in Serbia, has been ruled out due to a knock. Tuchel has not called up a like-for-like substitute for the Newcastle player but has included the Manchester City defender, who had to withdraw last month. Tuchel has discussed the centre-back's significance for England and has suggested using him in midfield.

No spot has been found for the midfielder, who was called up in the previous squad but pulled out due to injury and was substituted by the Milan player.

Tuchel said: “It was only three weeks since the previous gathering and the most recent victory, the last performance, so the consideration was why not select the identical squad in because they set the standard. The focus now is on creating habits out of it. We have unfortunately a couple of fitness issues at the moment with Tino and Noni and we bring of course Bukayo Saka in to replace Madueke. Jarell Quansah was a last-minute addition last time; he will stay in camp.”
