BF6 Gamers Agree: Challenges Are Way Too Hard

The debut of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 was met with broad praise, notably for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, simultaneous player numbers peaked at nearly 750,000. Yet, regardless of its fanfare, an increasing amount of players are voicing discontent with a portion of the release's most difficult challenges, which are necessary to access certain guns.

Players have started resorting to personalized games created through the custom game tool to complete them, emphasizing just how arduous these assignments have become.

Understanding Battlefield 6 Assignments

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, in contrast to the regularly refreshed everyday and weekly missions. There are four types of assignments, but while the majority only reward cosmetics and some tools, finishing the gun missions is the only way of acquiring 12 of the 41 main guns present in the game.

Several of these locked weapons could shortly make their appearance on rosters of the finest arms in Battlefield 6.

Gamer Backlash on Reddit

Within Reddit, players are understandably voicing their concerns about how challenging and repetitive some of these challenges are. One user pointed out one of the most egregious examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs

"This challenge is so atrocious and totally unreasonable, I want to scream in frustration," is a quote that summarizes just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it lacks nearly as many benefits in combat as it did in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.

Meanwhile, hipfiring an LMG is wildly inaccurate and functions solely at very short distances, which isn't typically where you prefer to be. That player also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that challenge would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Overly Demanding Mission

One more community participant brought attention to another ridiculously tough challenge, within the long-range weapon type to access the PSR:

  • Get 150 headshot kills from more than 200 meters away with long-range weapons

This is challenging enough as it is, but there's another important point to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at such a long range.

There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but given there are merely nine maps in the game at present, it implies you must stick to playing a specific urban map, another expansive area, and perhaps Operation Firestorm at a push if you want to snipe from over 200m away.

The Bypass

However, there is a solution: the custom game tool. The Battlefield Portal is a tool that allows you to make custom game modes on the battleground of your choice, complete with bots. This means you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't really seem like the intended gameplay experience.

However, when tackling the tasks in a normal session appears to work against fun, since you have to play in such an unconventional way that offers no advantage to anyone, who can fault a player for grinding them out in a custom game so teammates aren't hindered?

Upcoming Tweaks

It won't come as a surprise if some of these assignments are made easier in the next few updates, because if they're not, some players simply are unlikely to obtain the restricted guns.

Currently, the community continues to express their views on these challenging multiplayer missions, hoping for a more balanced overall gameplay in coming revisions.
